What is the difference between GEN3 and GEN4 besides the .1% increase in bioavailability?
Let's start with the farm. We have an agreement with a US-based farm that utilizes grass-fed cows (happy cows) to produce 7 million pounds of milk per day. The Genepro base is manufactured from sweet dairy whey using cold microfiltration and ultrafiltration membrane technology. The product is then gently spray-dried into a fine, free-flowing powder. The process results in an undenatured whey protein that is highly soluble over a wide pH range and has a very clean, bland flavor. It provides an excellent source of protein with high nutritive value.
Once we receive this raw powder in our facility, we use to treat it with the plasma machine (more about that in a minute) and then package it. With GEN4, we utilize a new first step with utilizing an inline milling and Ultrasonic homogenizers, commonly referred to as "sonicators," disrupt tissues and cells through cavitation and ultrasonic waves. This process reduces (micronizes) the protein at the molecular level. In essence making the protein cell smaller, much much smaller. Think of the original protein molecule being the size of a softball, then you put that softball through this machine and it comes out the size of a golf ball.. And NOW, that leads us to the Plasma treatment process that we have utilized for the last decade. Now, the word PLASMA can scare some folks. But don’t fear, we aren’t using blood plasma or anything like that. We use Electrical Plasma. Electrical plasma is a state of matter, often called the "fourth state," consisting of an ionized gas with free electrons and ions, allowing it to conduct electricity and respond to electric and magnetic fields. Electrical plasma can affect proteins by causing various modifications, including oxidation and fragmentation, depending on the specific plasma parameters and the protein's structure. These changes can alter a protein's functional properties and even its structural integrity. In the case here at Genepro, the protein molecule further reduces the size of the protein as well as making structural changes to the outer layer of the protein. This structural change makes the protein molecule fully bioavailable within the human body. Mixing these two technologies for GEN4 has allowed us to reduce the serving size and increase bioavailability within the body. It’s a win win!
